Policy for Academic Year 2007-2008

Tuition is $20/half-hour lesson.

Please expect a yearly increase in tuition of no less than 5%, effective September 1.

Enrolling for Lessons

Private Lessons: $20 is due at the interview. This payment will be used as the enrollment fee, if the client chooses to enroll for a regular lesson time. This is a time to assess knowledge and skills, create personal goals as well as review studio expectations and policy. A regular lesson time will be chosen at the interview.

Materials

Allegro Studios will happily locate all lesson materials for the client. Clients will never be asked to search for and obtain their own materials. Allegro Studios will find appropriate method books, recordings, and other materials to tailor the lessons specifically to the student’s needs. This is to ensure the student’s success. The client pays for all materials and they become the property of the client. We encourage all students to request favorite songs, styles, and artists.

Payment Policy

Tuition is to be paid a month in advance. Payment is due in full on, or before the first of the month. Any new materials gained during the current month will be billed to the next month's statement. Any account not paid in full on or before the first of the month, will accrue a late fee equal to 10% of the total amount due. For accounts that are more than 15 days past due or habitually past due, enrollment may be terminated immediately.

Rescheduling Lessons

Providing Allegro Studios receives a call anytime before the regular lesson, the student may be RESCHEDULED anytime within 3 business days before or after the regularly scheduled lesson as we have studio space available. You are paying tuition; for a specific block of your instructor’s time. If a student is "no call, no show," that client revokes the right to reschedule and pays for the unattended lesson. If our schedules do not allow a reschedule, the client still pays for the unattended lesson.

Reasons Allegro Studios does not do "make-up" lessons:

  1. It is a waste of your time, and therefore money, to have two back-to-back lessons. There is not enough time to practice and learn between lessons so close together
  2. Routine and discipline are so highly valuable to student musicians; irregular attendance actually retards the learning process and therefore results in frustration. Then the student is unhappy and not very good.
  3. Unannounced absences prevent other students from using that 30min. as a possibility for rescheduling.
  4. It is more of an incentive to attend regularly and take lessons seriously, providing the greatest amount of success over the shortest period of time!

Terminating Enrollment/Reenrollment and Excessive Absences

Clients may discontinue lessons at any time by giving verbal or written notice BEFORE the last lesson of the month before the month in which the student will have his/her last lesson. For example, if a client wishes to end lessons in the middle of August, he/she needs to give notice before the last lesson of July. Advance notice prevents the client from paying for lessons the student will not be able to attend. Without prior notice, tuition paid is NON-refundable. Though clients may discontinue lessons at any time, for any period of time, there is absolutely no guarantee that the same lesson time will be available if or when they wish to resume lessons. There is a $20 reenrollment fee for returning clients. Allegro Studios also reserves the right to terminate the enrollment of any student who is "no call, no show" for 3 or more consecutive lessons.

Teacher Absences and Inclement Weather

If your instructor is absent, every effort will be made to provide a qualified substitute. In cases of unfilled teacher absences or inclement weather, Allegro Studios will contact clients before their lesson time to cancel the lesson. If Allegro Studios is unable to provide instruction because of unfilled teacher absences or inclement weather, the client will have the choice to reschedule or to have a credit applied to the next month's statement.

Holidays and Vacation

If your regular lesson falls on a holiday--or any other day there are no lessons (New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the Friday after, and Winter Break--usually the last week of December), you will not be billed for that date’s lesson. Once a calendar year, (Jan. - Dec.) each client may also claim a "Vacation Day" where they will not be billed for an absence. Allegro Studios must be notified before the first lesson of the month in which the client wishes to claim the "Vacation Day."

Recitals

A formal studio recital will be held each year in June, unless otherwise notified. All students are strongly encouraged to participate, but the recital is not mandatory. All students will prepare a recital-type piece whether they are participating or not. A non-refundable recital fee of $30 per student will be due at least two months before the recital date for those participating. A rehearsal will occur approximately one week prior at the recital location. Students expecting to participate in the recital MUST attend the rehearsal. Participants will receive ten invitations 6-8 weeks before the recital date and all participants and their guests are invited to a reception following the recital.
